This book provides the technology newbie with 10 tools to use in their business.
Technology is no longer an option. It has become a mandatory essential tool for almost every business. And with the use of technology, individuals now have the opportunities available to them that weren't present even 10 years ago.
The problem that we face is that there’s basically a generation of people who haven’t been educated on how to use technology as a tool in their businesses and their lives. They need to be taught these applications and skills to keep up with tech savvy consumers, advance their careers, and save time so they can focus on other necessary or enjoyable tasks.
When people say “I’m not tech savvy” or “I didn't grow up on a computer,” what they really mean is “I haven’t been taught how to use the technology.” They haven’t been made aware of what technology can do for them. It can be scary to not understand something that’s become so necessary in today’s digital world.
Let’s look at a small business owner or employee who, even a few years ago, was chained to a desk working. If they weren't at their desk, things weren't getting done and money wasn’t being made. Yet they were missing their children’s events or foregoing a much needed vacation. Today, with the help of a smartphone that fits in our pocket, we can serve our clients, manage our employees, and generate revenue, all while enjoying the things we love. It’s the best of both worlds.
We all have different skills and talents. And some people have a really important message to share with the world that can have a positive impact on other people’s lives. But they don’t understand how to use technology, nor do they know where to start to teach themselves. And I find this to be downright criminal. With the use of technology, you can create products like ebooks and audio programs, and help people learn a new skill or educate them on any number of things. You can share your message like never before.
I’m not saying that it’s easy and there’s not a learning curve. There are always going to be people who are better at different things. But I am saying that technology skills are teachable. Applications of technology can be learned. And technology doesn't have to be the “unknown."
That’s our goal at Discover Your Inner Geek™. To close the generation gap in technology skills. That’s our mission.
